Eland Hunting

Safari Hunt Africa allows the opportunity to hunt and harvest World Record Class South African Eland, both Common Eland (Cape Eland) and Livingston Eland. The Limpopo Province of South Africa is the premier destination in the World to hunt the Eland. Year round, we offer hunts for awesome Trophy Eland. There are no seasonal restrictions on hunting the Eland in South Africa, which makes it a suitable trophy year round.

Eland hunting South Africa

Our hunters typically hunt the South African Eland in conjunction with a 7-10 day African Safari. One of our Experienced and Licensed Professional Hunters will be your guide during your Eland Hunt. We typically hunt Eland Safari Style, Spot and Stalk, or by Still Hunting if you are a Bow Hunter. We can accommodate all methods of Hunting for Eland including Rifle, Bow, Black Powder, Crossbow or Handgun. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level.

The Eland which we hunt on our South Africa Concession are the biggest in the World. You can expect a Cape or Common Eland in the 34+ inch range on average when hunting with us, with some each year exceeding 38 inches.  The Livingston Eland will be even larger in some cases.

The Cape eland (Taurotragus oryx), is a large African antelope species. It’s the largest of all antelopes and is native to various regions of southern and eastern Africa.

What do Eland look like:

Both male and female have long, twisted horns that can grow up to 3 feet long. The coat of the Cape eland varies from tan to grayish-brown, and males may also have white stripes on their sides. As males age, their coat tends to become more gray.

Eland Habitat:

These antelopes are found in a variety of habitats, including grasslands, savannas, open forests, and mountainous areas. They are highly adaptable and can be found in many different ecosystems, but they will not inhabit dense forests or woodlands.

Eland Behavior:

Cape Eland as well as Livingston Eland are very social animals, and can be found in herds of up to 500. Their herds include both male and female, and antelopes could stay and travel with the herd for several days, or several months. They graze on grasses, leaves, and shrubs in the morning and evening, and stay hidden from the sun during mid-day.
