The Nile Crocodile is a large aquatic reptile named crocodylus niloticus. These reptiles are known for their powerful jaws, sharp teeth, and armored body.

What do Nile Crocodile look like:

The Nile Crocodile’s skin is thick and plated, with a long and massive tail, which they use for swimming. They have a unique body form that allows its eyes, eras, and nostrils to be above the water while the rest of the animal is hidden in the water, allowing them to keep an eye on their surroundings. Crocodiles have tough and scaly skin, providing protection from predators, and regulating body temperature.

Nile Crocodile Habitat:

Nile Crocodiles are found in many fresh water rivers and lakes throughout Southern Africa, actually present in 26 countries. They live in areas such as ponds, coves, and creeks, as well as large reservoirs.

Nile Crocodile Diet:

Nile Crocodiles are carnivorous animals that eat insects, fish, small frogs, lizards, crustaceans, and small mammals. They are known for their great hunting skills and are very sneaky when approaching their prey.

Nile Crocodile Behavior:

Crocodiles are mostly nocturnal, and spend most of their time in the water. They have lots of patience when waiting for an opportunity to strike at their prey. They can have powerful bursts of speed in the water, and they are also known to be very agile on land.

Crocodile Reproduction:

Croc Females will usually lay 40-60 (sometimes up to 90) eggs in nests made of plant matter and muds. They will watch over the nests during the entire incubation period. After they are hatched, the mother helps the young get to the water and provide protection for a few months.
