Grey Duiker hunting South Africa

Our hunters typically hunt the South African Duiker in conjunction with a 7-10 day African Safari. One of our Experienced and Licensed Professional Hunters will be your guide during your Duiker Hunt. We typically hunt Duiker Safari Style, Spot and Stalk, or by Still Hunting if you are a Bow Hunter. We can accommodate all methods of Hunting for Duiker including Rifle, Bow, Black Powder, Crossbow or Handgun. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level.

The Duiker which we hunt on our South Africa Concession are some of the biggest in the World. You can expect a 5 inch Duiker (Gold Medal SCI) on average when hunting with us, with some each year exceeding 6 inches.

The common grey duiker (Sylvicapra grimmia) is a small to medium-sized antelope species found in various parts of sub-Saharan Africa.

What do Grey Duiker look like:

The grey Duiker is a shy tiny antelope with short horns. Adult Duikers can weigh from 22-55 lbs. They have grayish-brown to reddish-brown fur, giving them protective camouflage in their habitat.

Common Duiker Habitat:

Common, or Grey, Duikers are widely distributed in Southern Africa which provides much amount of cover. The inhabit a range of environments, including savannas, woodlands, bush lands, and grasslands. They also are found in mountainous regions and are found at high altitudes.

Grey Duiker Diet:

Grey Duikers are primarily herbivores, feeding on leaves, fruits, shoots, and a variety of other plant materials. They also eat berries and fruits that have fallen naturally from trees, or dropped by monkeys. They may also eat insects and small invertebrates like lizards or birds.

Grey Duiker Behavior:

Common grey duikers are generally solitary animals, but may form small family groups. They are known for their secretive behavior, and hide in dense vegetation from predators like leopards, wild dogs, and hyenas.

Grey Duiker Reproduction:

Duikers typically have a gestation period of around 6-7.5 months. A single calf is usually born, and is hidden by the mother in vegetation to protect it from its predators.
