Bushbuck hunting in South Africa

Our hunters typically hunt the South African Bushbuck in conjuction with a 7-10 day African Safari. One of our Experienced and Licensed Professional Hunters will be your guide during your Bushbuck Hunt. We typically hunt Bushbuck Safari Style or Spot and Stalk. We can accommodate all methods of Hunting for Bushbuck including Rifle, Bow, Black Powder, Crossbow or Handgun. We can accomodate hunters of any age and experience level.

The Limpopo Bushbuck we harvest will be in the 16-19 inch range Rowland Ward…we don’t shoot many that won’t make Gold Medal SCI.

Limpopo Bushbuck are medium-sized antelopes belonging to the genus Tragelaphus. These antelopes are found in various habitats across sub-Saharan Africa.

What do Limpopo Bushbuck look like:

Bushbucks are antelopes with a reddish-brown coat, and white patches on the ears, chin, tail, legs, and neck. Males have spiral shaped horns between 10 and 18 inches long, and while it is very rare, in some cases females have horns too.

Bushbuck Habitat:

Bushbucks are forest-edge animals. They adapt to many areas, including forests, woodlands, savannas, and mountain regions. They are also well adapted to areas with heavy vegetation, allowing them to get through thick brush.

Bushbuck Behavior:

Bushbucks are primarily herbivores, feeding on leaves, fruits, and shrubs. They are known for their ability to move well through dense vegetation, making them well suited for a life in the bush. Bushbucks are more solitary than other antelopes, but they may be found in small family groups. Bushbucks can be found all throughout sub-Saharan Africa, but Cape Bushbuck and Limpopo Bushbuck can be found in Limpopo.

Limpopo Bushbuck Reproduction:

Usually female bushbucks will give birth to one calf, but twins can occasionally occur. The calf does not follow its mother out into open forage until about four months old, it stays hidden in the mean time, while its mother periodically comes back to let it nurse. The gestation period lasts for about 6-7 months, and some females are able to give birth twice a year, while the birth peak is generally in during the rainy seasons in dry regions.
