Safari Hunt Africa allows the opportunity to hunt and harvest World Record Class South African Black Wildebeest. The Limpopo Province of South Africa is a great destination to hunt the Black Wildebeest. Year round, we offer hunts for awesome Trophy Black Wildebeest. There are no seasonal restrictions on hunting the Black Wildebeest in South Africa, which makes it a suitable trophy year round.

Our hunters typically hunt the South African Black Wildebeest in conjunction with a 7-10 day African Safari. One of our Experienced and Licensed Professional Hunters will be your guide during your Black Wildebeest Hunt. We typically hunt Black Wildebeest Safari Style, Spot and Stalk, or by Still Hunting if you are a Bow Hunter. We can accommodate all methods of Hunting for Black Wildebeest including Rifle, Bow, Black Powder, Crossbow or Handgun. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level.

The Black Wildebeest which we hunt on our South Africa Concession are the biggest in the World. You can expect a SCI Score 85 inch Black Wildebeest on average when hunting with us, with some each year exceeding 88 inches.

The black willdebeest (Conchaetes gnou), also known as the white-tailed gnu, is a species naive to southern Africa.

What do Black Wildebeest look like:

Black wildebeests are medium sized, robust antelopes with a dark brown/black coat. They have a long whitish tail, and a mane that runs along the back of the neck. Both male and female have a set of heavy, forward curving horns. They are about half the size of a Blue Wildebeest.

Black Wildebeest Habitat:

Black wildebeests inhabit grasslands and savannas. They enjoy grassy and mountainous areas in the Limpopo province.

Black Wildebeest Behavior:

Black wildebeest trail in herds, and they graze in a line or in loose groups, usually walking in a single file line when moving. These are very sociable, territorial animals. Females and their calf form small herds, and after about a year, males will leave the herd to join a bachelor herd. However, at 4 or 5 years old, the males become highly territorial and leave the bachelor herd.

Diet of Black Wildebeest

Black wildebeest are herbivores, mainly grazing on grasses. Their migration is usually a response to grass availability. They play a crucial role in shaping the vegetation in their habitats through their feeding habits.

Black Wildebeest Reproduction:

The primary breeding season for black wildebeest is from February to April. One calf is usually born after a gestation period of about 8 1/2 months.

Conservation status of Black Wildebeest:

The black wildebeest had faced population decline in the past due to habitat loss, but conservation efforts have helped to stabilize the species numbers, and they are now listed as “Least Concern” on the IUCN Red List.
